History, Mission & Values

In February 2014, the Town of Wellington provided funding for a contracted assessment of its downtown in relation to how it now exists and what it could become. The work was done by the nonprofit corporation Downtown Colorado Incorporated (DCI). A final report was issued in the spring of this year and is available on the Town’s website.

Mission Statement

The Wellington Colorado-Main Streets Program is an organized group of pro-active citizens whose goal is to promote, enhance, and develop downtown Wellington for the benefit of its inhabitants, businesses, and visitors.

WCMSP is organized as a Colorado nonprofit corporation run by a volunteer board of directors.

Vision Statement

The Wellington Main Streets Program is an undertaking with vision to revitalize the downtown district within the context of its history and future. The program will use an approach that advocates a return to community self-reliance, local empowerment, and the rebuilding of central business districts based on traditional assets of unique architecture, personal service, local ownership, and a sense of community. It envisions the development of downtown social capacity, new markets, useable space, and business opportunity.
