Since 1951, Wellington Fire Protection District has provided fire suppression, rescue, extrication, hazardous materials, emergency medical, public education, and risk reduction services to 288 square miles of northern Larimer County, including the Town of Wellington, Waverly, Buckeye, and surrounding communities. The District is now accepting applications and conducting testing, assessment, and evaluation for the open positions of Full-time Firefighter and Lieutenant.

This process will fill current vacancies and determine a limited eligibility list for potential future openings. This position is an entry-level firefighter that will work an anticipated 48/96 shift schedule. Grade I FF compensation includes $50,000/annualized ($17.36/hr) with shift assignment, FPPA pension plan and a competitive benefits package. The entry-level firefighter is typically supervised by the Lieutenant, and duties include emergency response, public education, training, station and equipment maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License
  • Current State of Colorado EMTB
  • Current AHA CPR Provider
  • Current Colorado State IFSAC/ProBoard FFI
  • Current Colorado State IFSAC/ProBoard Hazmat Awareness and Operations
(Required by start date)
  • CPAT certificate
Highly desired qualifications:
  • Current Colorado State IFSAC/ProBoard FFII
  • NWCG Wildland Firefighter II
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, & 800
