Wellington is operated by a mayor-council form of government. As a statutory town, the legislative and corporate authority of the Town of Wellington is vested in a Board of Trustees, consisting of a Mayor and six elected trustees to oversee the ongoing activities of the incorporated municipality. Various boards and commissions composed of area residents operate within the structure of the town board policies.

BUSINESS LICENSES  It is unlawful for any person, whether as principal, agent, clerk or employee, either for himself or herself or for any other person, to commence or carry on any kind of lawful business, profession, vocation or occupation in the Town without first having procured the necessary license as required by the Town.

 Business means and includes all kinds of vocations, occupations, professions, enterprises and establishments, and all other kinds of activities and matters, together with all devices, machines, vehicles and appurtenances used therein, any of which are conducted for private profit or benefit, either directly or indirectly, on any premises in this Town or anywhere else within its jurisdiction.

To apply for a license fill out appropriate application and Lawful Presence Affidavit. There are two types of license one is for business and the other is for contractors. A contractor is considered a specialist such as Electrician or Plumber, or someone who is contracted for a specific job such as a Framer or General Contractor.  A Business license is required for anyone doing business within or from the Town of Wellington. This application also covers Door to Door sales licenses. (Peddlers)

     Building Permits

 A person, firm, corporation cannot erect, construct, alter, repair, move or demolish any building / structure without first obtaining a building permit. New builds, additions, basement finish, and tenant finishes will need the Building Permit Application. Check with Town Hall staff for number and type of plans required. Processing will take from 10 to 12 business days.

Fences, underground sprinkler systems, storage sheds larger than 10x12, water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, re-roofs and window replacement will need the One Stop Application. Permits are processed as you wait. All permits must be submitted at Town Hall, 3735 Cleveland Ave.

     Housing and Services

HOUSING Wellington offers a variety of housing opportunities, both old and new. Like most desirable locations, housing prices are on the rise. There are many high quality affordable homes still available. Wellington Housing Authority provides housing for eligible low-income individuals and families. SPORTS AND RECREATION Wellington Recreation offers a variety of options for both children and adults. The Recreation department also manages the Batting Cage facility. Please click on the Recreation page link or call the Recreation Office at 970-568-7410.

SHOPPING Main Street Market offers a full service grocery store / pharmacy. There are a variety of good Restaurants, banks, convenience stores, gas stations, movie rentals, liquor stores, carwash and car care services, hardware store and a motel for your out of town guests.

HEALTH CARE A Medical Clinic, Dental Clinic, Eye Care Clinic and Veterinary services are all available in Welllington.

HIGHLANDS CEMETARY  On the East side of Interstate 25 just off of the NE frontage road you'll find the Cemetary. For information please call 970-568-3381.

DAY CARE Wellington has many day care providers, please pick up a list of Licensed Day Care providers at the Town Hall 3735 Cleveland Ave.

WELLINGTON (DUMP) TRANSFER STATION  is owned and operated by Larimer County. The transfer station is located on County Rd. 70 between County Rd. 7 and County Rd. 9 (Owl Canyon Road). About 1/2 mile East of County Rd. 9 on the South side of CR 70. Hours of operation: Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Call 498-5770 for 24 hr. information. The Wellington Transfer Station excepts household trash only. No large items, appliances or hazardous wastes will be excepted. 

AIRPORTS There are two airports within 30 miles of Wellington, Cheyenne WY. and the Fort Collins-Loveland Airport both connect to larger cities. Denver International Airport is about 60 miles or a little over an hour away.
