Applications will be accepted until December 18, 2020.  

Wellington households financially impacted by COVID-19 are eligible for up to $1,000 in funds that can be used for paying utility bills (water, sewer, gas, electric, trash, internet). The Wellington Utilities Hardship Relief Fund is designed to aid those who have lost wages, had a reduction in work hours, or other income hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hard copies can be picked up at Town Hall by appointment. Once completed, applications may be dropped off at Town Hall 24/7 in the “Water Bill Drop Box”. Call (970) 568-3381 x 1 to schedule a time to pick up an application. Town Hall address is 3735 Cleveland Avenue Wellington, Colorado 80549.

Eligible applicants must:

Only one application will be accepted per household 
  • Be a resident of Wellington
  • Apply funding towards residential utilities with a Wellington service address
  • Have experienced financial hardship caused by COVID-19 such as temporary job loss, reduced work hours, reduced salary, etc. beginning March 1, 2020 or later 
  • Be able to provide proof of lost wages and confirmation of bill payment if audited

Review and Award Process

Applications will be reviewed to determine eligibility and award amount. Awards will depend upon the amount requested, number of applicants, and availability of funds.

Once the complete application is reviewed, applicants will be notified of their award status on a rolling basis but no later than Dec. 20, 2020. The Town will issue payment to the resident with the expectation that awarded money will go directly to the utility needs specified on the application. If applicant is applying for assistance with water/sewer bills, the funds will be deducted from the award amount and applied directly to the account. 

Only one application is allowed per household. 

The program reserves the right to offer assistance different from the specified amount requested. There will be an auditing process that could require a resident to present evidence that they have been financially impacted by COVID-19 and funds were used to pay utility costs directly.
