The Town of Wellington requires all businesses maintaining or engaging in business, including service-oriented businesses, within the Town of Wellington to obtain an Annual Business License to conduct business in the Town of Wellington. Exempt activities are outlined in the Town of Wellington Municipal Code (Section 6-1-50).
The Town of Wellington allows home occupations within residential zoning districts, as long as they meet certain criteria. All home occupations must be registered with the town by completing a Business License Application. If you are a Contractor with a current license in the Town of Wellington, your Business License fee is waived in lieu of a Contractor License fee.
As of January 1, 2022, the Town of Wellington will no longer be issuing a Sales Tax License.
Annual Fees:
- Business License: $25.00
- Auctioneers License: $100.00
- Home Occupation: $55.00 ($25.00 Business License fee + Home Occupation fee of $30.00)
- Sanitation Service License: $500.00

2023 Renewal Message:
The Town of Wellington is in the process of updating Business Licenses for 2023. We know many of you have reached out regarding renewals and we want to ensure you that renewals have NOT been sent for the year, and there will be no penalties for outdated licenses at this time.
If you have a business that has an urgent need for a current license (in order to apply for State licenses, inspections, etc.), please email licensing@wellingtoncolorado.gov as soon a possible and our staff will be happy to assist you. We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we work through this transition.
