The Town of Wellington distributed $438,709 directly to local businesses, nonprofits, and residents Mayor Troy Hamman said “with so many unknowns and physical limitations to what we could do during this time, the Board of Trustees felt it was immediately effective to empower organizations and individuals by infusing direct relief funding into the community.  The resilience, adaptability, and grit shown in Wellington is truly what makes this Town such a special place.”

Over 40 organizations applied through the Business and Nonprofit Relief Fund and were awarded a total of $349,353. The funding does not have to be paid back and covers expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic such as payroll, HVAC updates, personal protective equipment, or any other adaptations needed to move forward safely.

Wellington residents received $89,356 through the Utilities Relief Fund impacting 140 households. Applicants were eligible for up to $1,000 to pay utility bills including electric, water, gas, trash, and internet. Funding was provided through the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) which was distributed to states by the Federal Government to address economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.
